IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Fred
Kvarfordt
December 4, 1928 – November 20, 2017
Fred 'Fritz' Kvarfordt, 88, of Idaho Falls, died Monday, November 20, 2017, in his home. He was cared for by his family, with the help of Alison from Encompass and his granddaughter Mesha. We thank you so much for your expertise, and warm loving hearts.
Fred was born on December 4, 1928, to Fredrick and Goldie Kvarfordt in Gothenburg, Nebraska. He grew up in Pocatello, Idaho and graduated from Pocatello High School in 1948.
On July 10, 1948, he married Wanda Jeanne Christensen, the love of his life, in Pocatello, Idaho. They lived in Pocatello until 1952, when they moved to Idaho Falls to open a tire store.
When television first came to Idaho Falls, Fred did the advertising for the OK Tire Group. Everyone he worked with was impressed with his enthusiasm and great business ability. Fred greeted everyone who came through the door like a well known friend. He made sure that everyone received outstanding service. He was concerned about providing for his growing family and ran the store by himself before he could hire anyone. He would work all hours of the night and day, whether he was sick or not. He was also a contractor beginning Rimrock Estates and Jeannie Jeanne Estates with his partners.
His favorite activities were golfing with his sons and friends. He enjoyed skiing at Fred's Mountain, now Grand Targhee, with the family. He enjoyed inventing things and involving the entire family.
His years as Bishop were very special to him; he loved everyone and wanted to help in any way he could.
He is survived by his wife, Wanda Jeanne Kvarfordt, of Idaho Falls; his daughter, Leslie Kvarfordt-Faerber, of Idaho Falls; his sons: Mitchell (Paula) Kvarfordt of Idaho Falls, Brian Kvarfordt of Idaho Falls, Tracy (Joan) Kvarfordt of St. George, Matthew Kvarfordt of Idaho Falls, Todd Kvarfordt of Idaho Falls, Charlie Dille of Idaho Falls, Muhammad Athoillah of Idaho Falls; his brother, Don (Wilma) Kvarfordt of Logan; 18 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Fred and Goldie Kvarfordt; his son, Kevin Fred Kvarfordt; his brothers: Jack and Ron; and his sisters: Ginnie and Betty.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, November 25, 2017, at Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First Street, Idaho Falls, Idaho. Interment will be at Ammon Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family online at www.coltrinmortuary.com .
