Obituary

Frederick "Fred" Tavenner Shapiro, 55, of Ammon, died January 13, 2009, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center of heart failure.

He was born June 2, 1953, in Marion, Indiana, to Melvin J. Shapiro and Theodosia Tavenner Shapiro. He grew up in Long Island, New York, and graduated from Roslyn High School in 1971. He moved to Idaho in 1972. He graduated from Idaho State University in Pocatello, Idaho, with a Bachelor of Science degree and has made his home in Idaho since that time.

Fred was an outstanding athlete, fantastic cook and hardworking man; he had a great sense of humor, a charming personality, and was a decent man, a devoted father, son, and brother.

He is survived by the following: a daughter, Nickoal Shapiro of Ammon, Idaho; mother, Theodosia Lachterman; a sister, Roxanne Preston; and a nephew, Melvin A Preston, all of Tulsa, Oklahoma.

He was preceded in death by his father, Melvin J. Shapiro.

Private family services will be held. Arrangements have been under the direction of Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First St., Idaho Falls, Idaho.
