IN LOVING MEMORY OF
G. Kent
Hansen
June 28, 1947 – March 2, 2025
Gerald Kent Hansen was called home to the arms of his loving Heavenly Father on Sunday, March 2, 2025.
Kent was born on June 28, 1947, in Idaho Falls, Idaho to Gerald and Ramona Hansen.
Kent was the second of seven children and learned his strong work ethic early on helping his parents on the family farm. He graduated from Firth High School in 1965. He was a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints with a devout testimony and love for his Savior Jesus Christ. Kent served his mission in Texas. Upon returning, he went to Ricks College and then Brigham Young University (BYU) where he graduated with a bachelor's degree in sociology in 1971.
Kent lived his life full of service to others and was happiest when he was helping others. He worked hard to teach this to his children...Whether they wanted the lesson or not. He was known for his stern demeanor but once he decided he liked you, the teasing began. His grandkids had his heart from day one and could make him smile and laugh like no one else.
Kent enjoyed spending time with his friends, family, and his many cousins, camping, white water rafting, quilting, and gardening, and was known for his macaroni salad and his famous homemade root beer.
Left behind to cherish his memory is his wife Cheryl Hansen; his children: Monica (Dan) Wells, Donna (Loren) Handra, David (Ada) Hansen, Ryan (Aundrea) Hansen, Tracy Greene, Geoffrey (Shawna) Hansen, Ruthann (Jordan) Price, Todd (Sydni) Sherwood, and Scott (Jacqueline) Sherwood; twenty-seven adoring grandkids and sixteen great-grandkids; his five sisters; one brother; countless cousins; loads of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, and two grandkids.
Dad, we will miss you immensely. You were our go to when times got rough and our comfort when we needed clarity. You were always someone we could count on, whether that be for advice or a helping hand. You always gave 110% and never stopped fighting for what was right. Because of you, we have the hearts of a lion, the love of our family, and a strong work ethic. We thank you, Dad, for all the calls, words of advice, life lessons, the love you gave us, and the beautiful lives we have because of you, your hard work, and boundless love for us. We are all better people, Dad, because of you. We will forever keep you in our hearts. WE love you, Dad.
