Garnel Roylance McBride

Garnel Roylance McBride (Roy) peacefully passed away August 30, 2018 at the age of 92.  He was surrounded by his loving children and grandchildren.

Roy was born to Garnel Joseph and Elda Roylance McBride.  He attended high schools in St. Anthony, Ammon, and Idaho Falls.  When he moved to Osgood, he met a pretty vivacious young lady, Blanche Williams, who became his sweetheart.  While in high school, World War II broke out, and Roy volunteered for the U.S. Navy where he traveled over 179,000 miles and served until the war ended.

Roy married Blanche Williams in the Logan LDS Temple on August 7, 1946.  Roy graduated from Ricks College and Utah State and then entered the FBI as a Special Agent.  He later joined Argonne National Laboratory and retired from the Department of Energy.

Roy enjoyed community service and served as president of Grid Kid football for ten years.  He served in many capacities in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints including bishopric and stake presidency counselor, sealer in the Idaho Falls Temple, and home teacher.  He taught his children and grandchildren to hunt, fish, and love the outdoors.  He loved being in the mountains with his family.

Roy loved serving others and truly lived the admonition, "…when ye are in the service of your fellow beings ye are only in the service of your God (Mosiah 2:17)."

He is survived by his children, Jan (Ron) Romrell of Idaho Falls, Idaho, Michael (Tanya) McBride of Idaho Falls, Idaho, David (Kerry) McBride of Mesa, Arizona, and Christine (Kory) Wright of Syracuse, Utah.

Roy and Blanche have 19 grandchildren and 62 great grandchildren.

Roy was preceded in death by his wife, Blanche, and his grandson, Todd Romrell.

Services will be held at 11 a.m., on September 5, 2018 at the Idaho Falls Stake Center, 1155 1st Street.

The family will visit with friends from 9:30-10:30 prior to the services.  Burial will be in Fielding Memorial Park Cemetery.
