Obituary

Gail Constance Freitas, 65, of Idaho Falls, died February 21, 2006, from cancer at Idaho Falls Health and Rehabilitation.

She was born July 30, 1940, in San Diego, California, the daughter of Roger Francis Ryder and Rose Josephine Young Ryder. Her father was a career marine and the family moved all over the country during her younger years. The family settled in El Cajon, California, where she attended grammar school. It was here that she first met, Frank E. Freitas. She later moved to the San Diego area where she attended Crawfield High School.

In 1960, Gail and Frank met again and in 1976, they relocated to Idaho Falls.

Gail worked as a waitress, a real estate agent, owner and operator of her own construction company, Lancaster Inc.; co-owner of Freitas Lancaster, a construction company; and most recently was a partner in a small tavern-grill called The Sand Bar.

Gail loved to dance and be with her friends. She was a loving mother and would do anything for her two sons, Don and Eric. Her nieces and nephews adored her and called her, "Auntie Gail". She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

She is survived by the following: her husband of 46 years, Frank E. Freitas of Idaho Falls; sons: Eric Flynn Freitas of West Jordan, Utah, and Don (Kimberly) Freitas of El Cajon, California; 2 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; sister, Phyllis (Lavar "Lee") Hudson of Idaho Falls; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Roger and Rose Ryder; a brother, Phillip Ryder; and a sister, Katie.

Memorial services will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, February 25, 2006, at Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First St. in Idaho Falls with Bishop Greg Cramer officiating. The family will visit with friends one hour prior to the services.
