Gary Lynn Fenstermaker was born on March 3, 1956, in Boise, Idaho to Charles H. Fenstermaker and Marie Nakano Fenstermaker. Gary was known to everyone around him as a kind, funny, and hardworking man who loved his family. He was a loving husband and the best father to his four children. He grew up playing sports and fishing on the Snake River. He went to Woodscross High School where he was a football star.

After high school, he moved to California and settled in Bakersfield. In April 1983, he was blessed with his first son, Randall Lynn Fenstermaker. In November 1990, he married the love of his life, Vicky Jo Thompson, and became a stepfather to her two children, Amy Nicole Smith and Joseph Scott Smith. They were blessed with a son, Keith Lynn Fenstermaker, in September 1993.

Gary worked as a framer for many years before becoming a building inspector. He worked for the Bakersfield City Building Department for 25 years. Gary and Vicky loved spending time traveling, but their favorite annual trip was always to Hawaii. When they weren't traveling, Gary loved being on the golf course, a high school football referee, and watching his Chargers play every season! They always wanted to move to Idaho after retirement and they made that dream come true last March. Gary loved being back home in Idaho with his family.

Gary Lynn Fenstermaker went home to Heaven on September 22, 2023, and is truly missed by everyone who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his father, Charles H. Fenstermaker, and his mother, Marie Nakano Fenstermaker.

He is survived by his loving wife, Vicky Fenstermaker; daughter, Amy Nicole Smith (Jeremy); sons: Randall Lynn Fenstermaker (Sarah), Joseph Scott Smith (Chrissy), and Keith Lynn Fenstermaker; grandchildren: Jeffrey, Lilie, John, Connor, Tyren and Olyver; sister, Charlene Fenstermaker; nephews: Joby and Antonio; brothers, Chuck Fenstermaker, Clayton Fenstermaker, and their families.

Services are being held at 3:00 p.m., on Saturday, October 21, 2023, at the Pleasant View Cemetery in Burley, Idaho under the direction of Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First Street, Idaho Falls.
