Gary John Hennings, 59, of Idaho Falls, Idaho, passed away July 19, 2016, at his home of cancer.

He was born October 2, 1956, in Cheyenne, Wyoming to Laurence H. Hennings and Marrian J. Armstrong Hennings.  Gary attended school in Cody, Wyoming before moving to Idaho Falls in 1976. He was a painter by profession and came to the area to help residents after the Teton Dam Flood.

After moving to Idaho Falls, Gary worked for the City of Idaho Falls, Starting Line Products, Bonneville School District #93, and the Idaho Laboratories Corp.

He was an avid gardener, enjoying growing vegetables, and fruit trees. Gary also enjoyed fishing in his spare time.

Gary is survived by two brothers: David Hennings, of Laramie, Wyoming, and Steven Hennings, of Granby, Colorado; three sisters:, Deborah Phillips, of Cheyenne, Wyoming; Pamela Marsh, of Spokane, Washington and Kathleen Hennings, of Billings, Montana;  and 4 nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Cremation has taken place under the direction of Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First St. Idaho Falls. Interment will be in the family plot in Kimball, Nebraska at a later date.
