Gary Wayne Hoyt was born February 5, 1939, in a log cabin just outside of Ririe, Idaho, to Pete James Hoyt and Esther Mae Hoch Hoyt. He attended schools in Ririe and joined the Air Force in February 1956, serving our country for four years.
He married Marlene Sayer soon after joining the Air Force and had two children, John and Kim. They were later divorced. He then married Judy Grey and had a son, Michael. They were later divorced. He then married Kristine Tays and had a daughter, Robin. They were later divorced. Later he found a loving companion in Adaleen M. "Butch" Toomer. They were very happy together for 13 years until Butch's passing in 2001. Fortunately for Gary, his grief of losing Butch was lessened when he found Gloria J Batton. Gary and Gloria helped each other through similar experiences, their love grew and they remained together till his passing.
For the last 30 years, Gary was an insurance agent in the Idaho Falls area, where he strived to give excellent service to his loyal clientele. He also spent several years before that as a manager for Skaggs in various places including Colorado.
He enjoyed many outdoor activities but especially loved snowmobiling and could spend hours telling of his various sledding adventures.
Family was the most important thing to Gary. He loved his children and thoroughly enjoyed his grandchildren and great grandchildren. They all held a special place in his heart. He had very close relationships with not only his parents but also his siblings, striving to spend as much time as possible with those he truly loved.
He is survived by the following: his mother, Esther Hoyt of Newdale; companion, Gloria J. Batton of Idaho Falls; sisters: Dorothy (Jon) Roberts of St. Anthony; Nancy (Delbert) Lusk of Rexburg; DeAnn Fausett of St. Anthony; children: John (Donell) Hoyt and Kim Hoyt both of Utah; Michael Hoyt of Bellevue, Idaho; Robin Hoyt Gibbons, Doug (Cindy) Toomer, Jody Toomer all of Idaho Falls; and Wendy Toomer-Rice of Blackfoot; 10 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father.
We all loved and cherished this man who gave us so much unconditional love.
