Gary Claud Williams, 81, of Idaho Falls, passed away on Friday, October 23, 2015, at his home. He was under the care of Encompass Home Health & Hospice. He was born December 31, 1933, to Louis Hansen and Florence Williams in Pocatello, Idaho. He was raised and attended schools in Pocatello. He served in the United States Navy. On September 11, 1999, he married Mary Elizabeth DuFour-Capps in Reno, Nevada. He had been married twice previously. In New York, he worked behind the stage at the Metropolitan Opera and Radio City Music Hall. In Idaho Falls, he worked at the Idaho National Engineering Lab. Gary was a member of S.C.O.R.E., AARP, Disabled American Veterans, and several unions including NY Local One, and others in Washington, Idaho, and Montana. He volunteered his time as a AARP Tax Aide. Gary enjoyed opera, world travel, watching football and basketball. He is survived by his wife, Betty Williams of Idaho Falls; children, Janet Reyes and Michael Williams both of Atlanta, Georgia; granddaughters, Nicole Smith and Jordyn Palmer both of Atlanta, Georgia; and a sister, Sherie Saenz of Nevada City, California. Gary was preceded in death by his mother, Florence Kaphammer and a sister, Patricia Hess. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 31, 2015, at Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First St., Idaho Falls, Idaho. The family will visit with friends one hour prior to the services.
