IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Georganna Mace
Pinder
November 16, 1934 – August 28, 2008
Georganna Mace Pinder, 73, of Idaho Falls, died August 28, 2008, at Mount Vernon Care Center surrounded by her loving family and friends. She had struggled for eight years with Alzheimer's. She also was a courageous survivor of breast cancer.
She was born November 16, 1934, in Cedar City, Utah to William Merkley Mace and Helena Pauline Olson Mace, the fourth of five daughters. She grew up on the East side of Salt Lake City and graduated from East High School in 1953. She attended Brigham Young University and the University of Utah. During her years after college she worked as a secretary in Salt Lake, Cleveland, and Los Angeles.
She met Glenn Theron Pinder in Salt Lake City, Utah and they were married on June 30, 1960 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Her greatest joy was becoming a wife and mother. She loved being home with her children and thought being a homemaker was the best job in the world.
"Georgie" as she was known to all was loved and considered the greatest mom and grandmother on this earth. She loved to laugh and she loved "dry humor" and was known by all for her distinctive Georgie "cackle". She loved to play the piano and could play anything by ear. Throughout her life she played for many church functions, road shows, and other civic programs. One of her favorite pastimes was to gather her family around the piano and play and sing for hours. From the beginning of her life Georgie loved sports. She played tennis on many leagues and bowled for many years as well. Bowling was a sore spot between Georgie and Glenn because she was a left-handed bowler and always beat him. She loved watching and supporting her children and husband in all their sporting activities.
Georgie loved to read about anything and everything. She loved arts and crafts and was an excellent cook. She collected recipes as a hobby. Because she survived cancer twice she was very health conscious and loved to learn about alternative health methods. She learned many things that increased her health and she loved sharing those methods with others.
Georgie was an active and faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints all of her life. She served in many positions including teacher, primary president, relief society president, counselor in stake young women's, young women's president, and homemaking leader. She served a humanitarian mission with her husband Glenn in the Philippines.
Georgie loved serving in the community. She was active in Republican Women's and she was always involved with PTA programs when her children were in school.
Georgie was loved by all. She had a way of encouraging everyone and she always had a positive outlook. Her grandchildren know that she was the most fun and most wonderful grandma ever. She always took the time to talk with them, play games, and sing them a song. After that she would fix them a snack. She will be greatly missed.
She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Glenn Theron Pinder of Idaho Falls; her daughter Kerrie Stone (Todd) of Idaho Falls, son Randle Pinder (Heather) of Eagle, Idaho; daughter, Jenny Brown (Jason) of Idaho Falls; son Douglas Pinder (Liz) of Idaho Falls; 2 sisters, Marylynn Baer (Bob) of Bountiful, Utah; and Martha Robbins (Wayne) of Draper, Utah and all her 14 grandchildren, Jordan, Madison, Sean, Nathan, Dillon, Bailey, Alyssa, Emmerson, Indiana, Derek, Olivia, Isabelle, Sophia (deceased) and Lauren.
She was preceded in death by her Mother, Father, 2 sisters, Margaret and Charlotte and one granddaughter.
