Geraldine "Gerry" Rammell Smith, 78, of Idaho Falls, passed away Thursday, May 1, 2014, at Life Care Center of Idaho Falls of natural causes. She was born September 23, 1935, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Joseph F. Rammell and Edith Hazel Bahr Rammell. Gerry grew up in Tetonia, Idaho; San Bernadino, California, and Mud Lake, Idaho. She graduated from San Bernadino High School in 1953. On July 30, 1954, she married Franklin D. Smith in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and held many callings which included stake genealogy leader. She and Frank were active in the Spanish Extraction Program. Gerry worked for several years at the Credit Bureau of Idaho Falls. She was a member of the York Grange and held several positions with the Idaho State Grange. Gerry was also involved with youth baseball. Gerry enjoyed doing genealogy, cake decorating, spending time with family especially the grandkids and attending their activities. She also loved her pets. She is survived by the following: Husband, Franklin D. Smith of Idaho Falls; daughter, Gail L. (Daniel) Brown of Rigby; sons: H. Michael (Carrie) Smith and Ronald Kay (Susan) Smith both of Idaho Falls, and Kelly Joe (Raina) Smith of Ammon; a brother, Joseph Lynn (Maurine) Rammell of Bellevue, Washington; a brother-in-law, Robert Eustice of Yucaipa, California; and a sister-in-law, Nita A. Rowe of Idaho Falls; 20 grandchildren and 37 great-grandchildren. Besides her parents, Gerry was preceded in death by a sister, JoAnne Eustice, 2 great grandchildren, Mikaila Spencer and Kellen Cox, and a host of beloved pets. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, May 5, 2014, at the Idaho Falls LDS South Stake Center, 2051 s. Emerson Ave. The family will visit with friends from 7-9 p.m. Sunday, May 4, 2014, at Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First St., Idaho Falls, and Monday one hour prior to the services at the church.
