Gerardo Valentin Islas, 20, of Idaho Falls, passed away on August 2, 2022, at MCB Camp Pendleton in San Diego, California.

Gerardo was born on June 27, 2002, at the Mountain Home Air Force Base to Maria Pasley Islas and Gerardo Islas-Rivera.  Gerardo moved to Idaho Falls where he grew up. He graduated from Thunder Ridge High School in 2020.

In June 2020, he joined the U.S Marine Corp. He served at MCB Camp Pendleton. At the time of his death, he was a Lance Corporal. He spent his leaves visiting family, dirt biking and adventuring with his friends.

He was a member of the Catholic Church.

Gerardo enjoyed hunting, shooting, camping, driving, and online games where he was able to keep in touch with many close friends. He was known as polite, always willing to help, and always had something funny to say.

He is survived by his father, Gerardo Islas-Rivera; his mother, Maria Pasley; his stepfather, Joe Woodland; his sisters: Olivia Islas and Sheridan Croft; his brothers: Ajay Croft and Noah Woodland; his grandparents: Jeff and Veronica Pasley and Rodney and Guadalupe Clark; his nephew, Skylar Islas; and his niece, Ember Evans Islas.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 23, 2022, at Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First Street, Idaho Falls. A vigil will be held at 6:00 p.m., Monday, August 22, 2022, at Coltrin Mortuary with a visitation following until 7:30 p.m., and one hour prior to the services Tuesday.
