Obituary

Glen W Higley, 82, a longtime resident of Idaho Falls, passed away in Pleasant View, Utah, in the home of his daughter, Sandy Loken, surrounded by family, on October 30, 2017.

Glen was born July 8, 1935, the son of Ronald and Maggie Higley, in Elko, Nevada.  His childhood years were spent happily on the farm of his Uncle Harrow and Aunt Irene Sutton, in Oakley, Idaho.

He enlisted in the United States Army, where he served honorably for twelve years, earning Good Conduct, National Defense Service and Army of Occupation (Germany) Medals. He supported his family through various occupations, including work as an orderly in a mental hospital, and as a night auditor in several hotels.

Glen married Sharin Bell, with whom he had three children, Holly Suezanne, Molly Bell, and Sandra Lea.  After being divorced from Sharin, he married Ruth Barrette, whom he remained married to until her passing in 1999.

He is preceded in death by his first wife, Sharin, his second wife, Ruth, and his oldest daughter, Holly Suezanne Higley, who died in childhood of Leukemia.

He is survived by his two remaining daughters: Molly Bell Blackburn and Sandra Lea Loken, fourteen grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren, as well as many of his extended family.

Glen loved to read and work puzzles.  He also spent many hours making hand crafted items to donate to local homeless shelters.  His great-grandchildren have each received a handmade quilt from their great-grandfather Glen, to be cherished as a memento of their late great-grandfather. Glen will be missed by his family, extended family and friends.

Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, November 4, 2017, at the Rose Hill Cemetery, 2355 Rollandet Street, Idaho Falls. Online condolences may be sent to the family at wwww.coltrinmortuary.com.
