He was born August 5, 1913, in Manti, Utah, to Jesse William Lowry and Eliza Stutzneggar Lowry. He was raised in McCammon, Idaho, and graduated from McCammon High School in 1931. He attended Idaho State University during the depression when it was a 2 year college. He received his two year certificate in business and completed courses in accounting through the University of Texas.
On December 23, 1936, he married Elda Kutterer in the Logan LDS Temple. They moved to Vallejo, California, in 1936, just after they were married. He worked as a bookkeeper and clerk for two large food markets in Vallejo. For 19 years, he worked as a controller at Yuba Manufacturing Company. In 1959, he moved to Chico, California, where he worked for Tri-Co Almonds Company as a controller until 1969. He opened his own accounting and tax business and in 1984, he retired and moved to Redding. His wife died Oct. 25, 2005, and he moved to Idaho Falls in July 2006 to be near family.
He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where he served as a teacher, Bishop, Bishop's counselor, High Councilman, auditor, and home teacher.
He loved working on their small farm of walnut and fruit trees, gardening, landscaping, being in the great outdoors, and sports.
Glen was a wonderful example to his family and those around him; he always showed his love to his family.
He is survived by 3 daughters; Janice Madsen of Idaho Falls, Ludene (Kent) Hansen of Eugene, Oregon, and Suzanne (Morris) Withers of Overland Park, Kansas; one son, Glen Ray (Carolee) Lowry of Redding, California; one sister, LaRue Smith of Arimo, Idaho; 19 grandchildren and 55 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Elda; 3 brothers and 3 sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, September 14, 2007, at the Crestwood LDS Ward, 2055 Coronado Drive, in Idaho Falls. The family will visit with friends one hour prior to the services at the church. Burial will be at the Lund Cemetery, near Grace, Idaho.
