Obituary

Glen Paul Myers, 92, of Idaho Falls, formerly of Ashton, Idaho, died November 23, 2010, at his home. He was born April 15, 1918 in St. Anthony, Idaho to Charles and Dora Paul Myers. He was raised by foster parents George and Rose Edginton in Ashton. He grew up at the Railroad Ranch which is now Harriman State Park, and also in Ashton. Glen, and his dog, Mike, won many of the kid's dog races in the early Ashton dog races. Glen graduated from Ashton High School in 1936. After high school Glen served his country in the US Army during World War II. At the close of the war he was stationed at Okinawa. On May 27, 1941 he married Nina Hillam in the Logan Utah LDS Temple. Glen was employed by Fall River Rural Electric for 36 years, and was a resident of Ashton until moving to Idaho Falls nine years ago. Glen was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in various positions including, patriarch of the Ashton Idaho Stake, and temple worker in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. Glen served a mission for the LDS Church from 1938-1940 to the East Central States Mission. Glen and Nina also served a mission to Lisbon Portugal, to the Washington DC LDS Temple, and one to the Idaho Falls Family History Center. He was a member of the American Legion and a volunteer fireman in Ashton. Glen's hobbies were reading, and crocheting afghans for grandchildren. He also really enjoyed watching John Wayne movies. Glen is survived by his wife Nina Hillam Myers of Idaho Falls; son, Paul (Elaine) Myers of Bagdad, Arizona, son, Brent (Linda) Myers of Meridian, Idaho, daughters, Marie (Doug) Hadley of Idaho Falls, Kathy (Mark) Sanders of Idaho Falls, Joyce Bayles of Franklin, Idaho, Darla (Don) Romrell of Sugar City, Idaho, and a son, Ron (Lorraine) Myers of Soda Springs, Idaho, 34 grandchildren, and 62 great-grandchildren. Glen was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, a brother, foster parents, two sons-in-law, a grandson, and a granddaughter. Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, November 27, 2010 at the Idaho Falls LDS North Stake Center, 955 Memorial Dr. Idaho Falls with Bishop Kevin Hathaway officiating. Interment will take place at 3p.m. at the Pineview Cemetery in Ashton, Idaho. A memorial service will immediately follow the Interment at the LDS Church adjacent to the cemetery.
