Obituary

Glenn "Bud" I. Fredrickson, 84, of Idaho Falls, died February 7, 2010, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center of natural causes related to age. He was born July 7, 1925, to Harold Fredrickson and Blanche Olla Brown Fredrickson in Ottumwa, Iowa. He attended Ottumwa High School where he was active in all types of sports. He made the 2nd All State Team in football and then during his junior year, he was drafted into the Army to serve in World War II. He was awarded the Bronze Star and numerous other decorations for his participation with the Bastards of Bastogne, Germany, and the Battle of the Bulge. Glenn earned his GED after returning from military service. On March 31, 1946, he married JoAnna Phillips in Ottumwa, Iowa. She died July 4, 2009. He has lived the past 50 plus years in Idaho Falls. He drove an INL bus for 30 years before retiring at the age of 65. He enjoyed many years of traveling with his wife in their motor home. Glenn was a loving husband and was a bit cantankerous to those who knew him, but he did the best he knew how. He is survived by the following: daughters: Cynthia Bennett of Rigby and Connie Jo "CJ" (David) Jenkins of Idaho Falls; granddaughters: Heather Dineen of Idaho Falls and Donna Bergman of Eugene, Oregon; grandson: Jeff (Sheila) Bennett of Forest Grove, Oregon; brother, Rick (Lucy) Fredrickson of Haslet, Texas; sisters: Roxanne Woods and Shirley Fuller both of Des Moines, Iowa; 6 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild; and a very special friend and caregiver to both Glenn and JoAnna, Jeanna Birch of Rigby. Besides his wife, JoAnna, Glenn was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Corrine Grogan. The family will visit with friends from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Friday, February 12, 2010, at Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First St., Idaho Falls.
