Obituary

Guy Franklin Isom, a lifetime resident of Idaho Falls, died peacefully in his home January 11, 2017, after losing the battle with lung cancer.

Frank was born February 26, 1935, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Andrew Normington Isom and Jacosa Dean Burke Isom. He grew up in Idaho Falls and graduated from Idaho Falls High School as the first graduating class of the new high school. He was drafted into the army and honorably served from 1957 to 1959.

On June 17, 1956, he married Roberta Stevens of Lovell, Wyoming, in the Idaho Falls Temple and enjoyed a 60 year eternal marriage with the love of his life. Their lives were blessed with two children. Rozanne was born July 26, 1958, in Olympia, Washington while he was serving at Fort Lewis, Washington. A son, Marc, was born September 21, 1960.

For many years, he was a dairy farmer in the New Sweden area and was active in the Dairyman's Association. Upon retirement, he and his wife served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Philippine Quazon City West Mission.  They then served a mission to the Idaho Falls Temple visitor center. Wanting to stay busy, he took up the hobbies of wood working, oil painting and finally making Damascus knife blades. At the time of his passing he was the owner of Shadow Mountain Forge LLC.

He is survived by his two children, Rozanne Loynd of Port Orchard Washington, and Marc A. (Jeanne) Isom of Blackfoot Idaho; 16 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren and one brother Charles Isom. He is preceded in death by his wife, Roberta, his parents, 4 sisters Lallis McKenzie, Maxine Isom, Rilla Lewis, Earlene Campbell, one brother Dean Isom, and a grandson Justin James Isom.

There will be a viewing for friends and family on January 14, 2017, from 10:00 am to 10:45 am at Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First Street.
