Gwen Rachel Berrett Fillmore, 92, of Idaho Falls, Idaho, passed away Sunday, April 22, 2007, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center.
She was born January 18, 1915, in Menan, Idaho, to William Silas Berrett and Rachel Beach Berrett. She attended school in Menan and graduated from Midway High School. She attended Ricks College.
She married Kenneth R. Fillmore on September 8, 1936, in the Salt Lake Temple. They lived in Rigby, Idaho, for a short time and then moved to Idaho Falls where they raised a family and where they resided for the rest of their lives.
Gwen was an active member of the LDS Church and had many callings. She was a loving and dedicated mother. Her home was always open to anyone who needed nurturing. She reached out to many who needed help.
She loved gardening, sewing, and genealogy. Throughout her life she has researched the lives of her ancestors and extended family members. She has written numerous life histories and was the co-author of "Menan, Idaho, 1879-1986", a history of Menan.
Gwen is survived by her children: Mrs. Monte (Dee) Maynard of Riverton, Utah; Bill Fillmore of Heber City, Utah; Kenneth E. Fillmore of Idaho Falls, Idaho; Karl Fillmore of Sequim, Washington; Mrs Stan (Karen) Washburn of Idaho Falls, Idaho; Mrs. Lee (Vicki) Briggs of San Antonio, Texas; Mrs. Randy (Kathy) Johnson of Puyallup, Washington; Rachel Fillmore Valentine of Plant City, Florida; Mrs. Reuel (Renee) Davis of Boise, Idaho; a sister, Mrs. Robert (Barbara) Jones of Idaho Falls; 43 grandchildren, 92 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth in 1989; 3 grandsons, 10 brothers, and 3 sisters.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 28, 2007, at 12 Noon at the Sage Lakes Ward, 1200 Dunbar, with Bishop Tadd Jenkins officiating. The family will visit with friends from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Friday evening, April 27, 2007, at Coltrin Mortuary; 2100 First St., in Idaho Falls, and Saturday at the church one hour prior to the services Burial will be in the Rigby Pioneer Cemetery.
