Obituary

Hazel Ruth Toole, 77, of Idaho Falls, passed away Saturday, November 3, 2012, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center of a pulmonary embolism. She was born June 1, 1935, in Wenatchee, Washington, to Kenneth Coppess and Ada Smith Coppess. Hazel's mother passed away when she was 3 years old, and her father married Velma Bennett when Hazel was 6 years old. Velma was given custody and raised Hazel after Kenneth and Velma were divorced several years later. She grew up in Cashmere, Washington, and in 1953, Hazel graduated from Cashmere High School. During her high school years, she was their Princess for the Wenatchee Apple Blossom Festival. Hazel attended the University of Washington for 3 years and while there, she was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority. She became a stewardess and flew to Alaska and Hawaii for Pan American Airways. On June 15, 1957, she married Clyde Roland Toole, whom she had met while attending the university. They were married in Seattle, Washington, and settled in Idaho Falls where Clyde was already working at the National Reactor Testing Station, known now as the INL. She was a member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church. She was a voluntary librarian and worked in the elementary schools for 15 years. She was the Chief Registrar for her precinct for 13 years; PTO President, Booster of the Year for Idaho Falls High School and a PEO Member of the BI chapter. Hazel was noted for her cooking and baking skills especially, her cinnamon rolls and almond roll, which were the highlight of the holidays for many friends, neighbors, and family. She loved to travel and saw much of the world. She was an extremely loving and dedicated wife and mother; her daughters were the pride of her life. Hazel believed her mission in life was to make everyone else's life easier and more enjoyable. People often commented that they had never met a more caring person. She is survived by her husband, Clyde R. Toole of Idaho Falls; Daughters: Kelli D. (Mike) Marshall of Idaho Falls; Shauna L. (Mike) Pawlowski of Camas, Washington; Erin M. (Mark) Albertson of Boise; and Megan S. (Ed) Teckmeyer of Idaho Falls; and 6 grandchildren: Drew and Mikell Marshall, Ben and Jill Pawlowski, Sean and Kelan Albertson. Hazel was preceded in death by her mother, father, and step-mother. Memorial services will be at 12 Noon Saturday, November 10, 2012, at St. Luke's Episcopal Church, 270 N. Placer, Idaho Falls, with Pastor Susan Speir officiating. A Celebration of Life will be held following the services from 1:30-3:30 p.m. at the Sandpiper Restaurant. The family suggests memorial donations may be made to the Idaho Falls Food Bank, St. Luke's Episcopal Church, or the Snake River Animal Shelter. Arrangements are under the direction of Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First St., Idaho Falls and online condolences may be sent to the family at www.coltrinmortuary.com.
