Helen Louise Nelson Richins-Kunz, 99, of Idaho Falls, passed away Thursday, February 23, 2023, at Morningstar Senior Living. She was under the care of Enhabit Hospice.
She was born July 31, 1923, in Marysville, Idaho to J.C. "Clad" Nelson and Viola Agnes Thompson. Helen grew up in Teton Valley alongside her siblings Nola, Ella, Leona, Wells, Phyllis, Guy, Rex, Arlo, and Bonnie. The love and relationship within the Nelson clan are legendary.
Helen married A.C. "Joe" Richins. They raised their children Philip (Tana), Colleen (Paul), Jon (Shauna), and Grant in Seattle. When Joe retired from United Airlines Joe and Helen moved back to eastern Idaho.
After, Joe's death Helen later married Bruce Kunz. Helen is well known for her feisty and witty personality. Everyone enjoyed her company and wanted to be near her. Guiding principles in her life were "there is no such thing as being too kind" and "never judge a person by their worst day."
Helen is survived by her children; her siblings: Rex (Sharon) Nelson, Bonnie Jensen, and sister-in-law Karen Nelson. She was preceded in death by her parents Clad and Viola; her siblings: Nola, Ella, Wells, Leona, Guy, and Arlo; her husbands: Joe and Bruce; and her son Grant. She will be missed. We will try to live worthy of her.
A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, March 4, 2023, at the Victor Cemetery. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 4, 2023, at 1:00 p.m., at the Ammon 26 th Ward, 1100 S. Tie Breaker Drive, Ammon.
