Henry “Buttons” Joseph Berry, 72, of Idaho Falls, Idaho, passed away on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, at his home surrounded by his loved ones, under the care of Brio Hospice.
Henry was born January 14, 1953, in Fort Belknap, Montana, on the Native American Reservation, to Joseph Izzumn and Cecelia Falcon Berry. He grew up in Butte, Montana.
He enlisted in the U.S. Army on March 12, 1970, serving for two years. During his service, Henry was stationed at Fort Lewis as a truck driver (vehicle support) in Vietnam and also spent time in R&R in Butte, Montana.
On May 13, 1978, Henry married the love of his life, Bonnie Jean “BJ” Garner, in Arco, Idaho.
Henry worked for Argonne National Laboratory for three years and for INEL/INL for ten years. He was proud of and deeply connected to his Native American traditions. He was also a long-term member of his 12-step group, having joined on July 1, 1987.
Henry enjoyed fishing, camping, riding ATVs, metal detecting, and helping others. He loved playing guitar, rodeo bronc riding, and a good game of Cribbage. Buttons showed love and kindness to everyone he met. He was a sharing, caring, loving brother, dad, grandpa, and friend who truly loved all.
He is survived by his wife, Bonnie Jean Berry of Idaho Falls; daughters Cheyenne Berry of Idaho Falls, Delsey Berry of Hawaii, and Stephanie Berry; sons Shane Berry Parsons of Mountain Home, Idaho, and Merle “Lee” Berry Parsons of Boise, Idaho; sisters Laurie Joe of Butte, Montana, Billie Jo Cooper of Tacoma, Washington, and Rose Barton of Butte, Montana; brothers Unizzium Berry of Boise, Idaho, Larry Berry of Colorado, Tommy Berry of Butte, Montana, and Ricky Berry of Butte, Montana; granddaughters Mercedes and Kimberee Berry Jenkins of Idaho Falls; and grandson Joseph “JT” Berry Smith of Idaho Falls. He is also survived by six additional grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, and two more great-grandchildren on the way.
Henry was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Izzumn Berry and Cecelia Adel Falcon Berry; his sister, Bernette “Pudgie” Lewis; and his beloved aunt “Boots.”
A Celebration of Life will be held from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., on Saturday, December 6, 2025, at the Redd’s Grill in Shilo Inn, 780 Lindsay Blvd., Idaho Falls.
