IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Hillman Marvin
Johnson
January 17, 1945 – November 14, 2022
Our husband, father, and grandfather, Hillman Marvin Johnson, left this world on November 14, 2022, after battling serious medical issues for the past six years. He showed courage in facing life's challenges with stubbornness, humor, and a smile. Despite the pain, Hillman came out a hero and stayed strong until the end. He will be sadly missed and will always hold a place in our hearts.
He married his soul mate, Livina Ann Reed, on New Year's Day 1985 in Idaho Falls, Idaho. He chose to endure years of family drama, and the obsession of raising over 30 cats at the time when he took Ann as his bride. This act of compassion and devotion proved that he was either a Saint or just plain Crazy!
Hillman and Ann spent years driving as long-haul truck drivers. In the early years of their relationship, they clocked many miles, saw God's country, and made memories at their home in Sapulpa, OK. In 1986, life changed when an accident occurred on the Texas border while driving his 18-wheeler alone. After experiencing multiple broken bones, internal injuries, and a head injury, the Lord spared his life. He spent the rest of his days with plates, rods, and screws in both legs which caused him extreme pain and forced him to retire.
Hillman is known by his grandchildren as an avid fisherman. Grandpa had the boat to take them out on the lake and was their fishing buddy along the rocky shore. His son-in-law, a witness to the fishing stories and great fun they had while spending time together with a fishing rod in their hands. This was Hillman's happy place.
Hillman is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Livina Ann Johnson of Rigby, ID; four children: Marvin Johnson of Tampa, FL, Dana Bracknell of Idaho Falls, ID, Teri (Brian) Medina of Idaho Falls, ID, and Sandi Landon (Chad Casperson) of Bancroft, ID; along with 13 adored grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers, 2 sisters, a brother-in-law, a grandson, and 2 nephews.
Gone Fishing
I've finished life's chores assigned to me,
So put me on a boat headed out to sea.
Please send along my fishing pole
For I've been invited to the fishin' hole.
Where every day is a day to fish,
To fill your heart with every wish.
Don't worry, or feel sad for me,
I'm fishin' with the Master of the sea.
We will miss each other for awhile,
But you will come and bring your smile.
That won't be long you will see,
Till we're together you and me.
To all of those that think of me,
Be happy as I go out to sea.
If others wonder why I'm missin'
Just tell 'em I've gone fishin'
The family will have a private Celebration of Life at a later date. Cremation is under the direction of Coltrin Mortuary,2100 First Street, Idaho Falls, Idaho. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.coltinmortuary.com.
