He married Carrie Iona Taylor on Sept. 25, 1940, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They lived in Ogden until 1945 and then moved to Kuna. There they ran a dairy farm and raised their family. In 2006, they moved to Idaho Falls.
Howard was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He served as Elder's Quorum President, Sunday School President, and temple worker in the Boise Idaho Temple.
Howard is survived by four children: Ada (Bob) Anderson, of Idaho Falls; Dave (Jackie) Pierce, of Salt Lake City, Utah; Fred (Teresa) Pierce, and Dale (Jeanne) Pierce, all of Nampa, Idaho. He has 18 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, a brother and a sister.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 13, 2007 at the Kuna LDS Stake Center, corner of Black Cat and Kuna Roads in Kuna. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday, October 12, 2007, at Zeyer Funeral Chapel, 83 N. Midland Rd. In Nampa, Idaho, and one hour prior to the services at the church.
