Obituary

Ila Sue Billman (Sue), 68, returned home to her Heavenly Father, and the loving arms of her parents on June 13, 2021.

Sue was the youngest of six children born on April 18, 1953, to William and Josephine Billman, after Josephine had had a dream of a little girl asking to join their family. Mom was born, raised, and lived her entire life in Idaho Falls, ID, attending high school and graduating in 1971 at Skyline High, and raising her children. She was a devoted mother to her six children, a stepmother to three additional loved children, and was the grandmother to 30 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Mom had the ability to light up any room she walked into with her eyes and smile, but when her laughter was added people were immediately drawn to her. She had a calmness about her that allow complete strangers to share their life stories, and she always found the good in every individual she met. Mom was known as the baby whisper, and it was not uncommon for her to ask or be asked to help soothe an upset infant. Her children and grandchildren were the light of her life and were raised to the off-tune melody of her singing Rockin'-Rollin'-Ridin' while being held and rocked in her arms. Mom was known for many talents including cooking, decorating, creative writing, and animated storytelling, and also known for her love to serve in any way needed. She would often be found cooking meals, going through closets, making quick stops at the store, or giving of all she had in order to bless the lives of others around her. She had an amazing ability to make everyone who came in contact with her feel as though they were the most important person in her life, followed second only to her love of chocolate.

Mom served in several positions at church including Relief Society Counselor, Primary and Nursery Teacher, and lastly the position she shined in the most as the Primary Music Director. Throughout her adult years she was employed various locations, with those having the most impact on her life being when she helped open and run the ZCMI Office when the Grand Teton Mall opened, and as an Administrator at Riverview Hospital, and later at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center where she remained until her health limited her ability to continue. However, if she was ever to be asked what was her favorite job, she would have hands down replied being a mother, grandmother, and aunt. As life continued to hand her challenges she approached each one head-on with everything she had and continued to make family, service, and her love for mankind her priority till the end.

Sue is survived by her brother Arlo Billman; her children: Candice Reifschneider, Steven Reifschneider (Kim Reifschneider), Stephanie Wilkey (Christopher Wilkey), David Forrest (April Forrest), Stacey Wells (Scott Wells), and Amy Wells (Tyler Wells); her three stepchildren: Adam Knudsen (Jolene Knudsen), Michelle (Robert) Dillion and Brandon (Camrin) Knudsen; 30 grandchildren: Saleena (Taylor Gillins) Jordan, Hope, EmmaRae, Justin (Casidee Lewis), Brendon, Skyler, Trenton, Colton, Dawson, Isabella, Garrett, Elijah, Kassidee, Lilliana, Cate, Abigail, Paige, Kasen, Bryson, Gabriel, McKenzee, Kylee, Lillian, Amelie, Mireya, Isaiah, Nathan, Kolton, and Dalton; and 3 great-grandchildren: Taezlynn, Baelyr, Jeremiah.

Sue is preceded in death by her parents William and Josephine Billman; her siblings: Ray, May, Reed, and Jerry.
