Ila Ann
Taylor
July 9, 1933 – June 5, 2026
Ila Ann Taylor, beloved mother, grandmother, and family matriarch, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 5, 2026, at MorningStar Senior Living in Idaho Falls, Idaho, surrounded by loving friends and family, she was 92 years old. She was under the care of Oakstone Hospice.
Ila was born on July 9, 1933, in Plymouth, Utah, to George Russell Archibald Sr. and Ila Laverne Babbitt Archibald. She grew up attending schools in Malad, Idaho, and Tremonton, Utah, and graduated from Bear River High School. She grew up to become the steadfast heart of her family a woman of quiet strength, boundless love, and unwavering devotion to those she called her own. Those who knew her best often called her the “mighty oak” — deeply rooted, enduring, and a shelter for all who gathered beneath her branches.
She was united in marriage to Howard (Mac) Taylor, and together they built a life and family rooted in love. Mac preceded her in death in October 2006. Ila was a loving mother who cared deeply for her entire family — the one everyone leaned on, the one who held it all together.
In her later years, Ila was lovingly cared for by her granddaughter and guardian angel, Melanie Farren, whose dedication, tenderness, tolerance, and laughter brought great comfort, security, and joy to Ila’s later years. She was also graced by the presence of her dearest friend, Julie Ludholtz, who remained faithfully by her side until Ila’s final moments — a testament to the enduring bonds she inspired in all who knew her.
She is survived by her son, Gerry Taylor, and her three grandchildren, Melanie Farren, Eric Reeves, and Marcy Hobbs; seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Her legacy lives on in each of them.
Ila is preceded in death by her husband, Howard (Mac) Taylor; and her daughters, Gaye Reeves and Donnie Clark.
She will be deeply missed and forever loved.
A memorial and celebration of life will be held in the coming weeks. Details will be shared as they are arranged.
