Obituary

J Emerson Brinton, 82, life long resident of Idaho Falls died June 21, 2009, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center.

He was born May 14, 1927, the youngest of five children to Samuel Howard and Mary Lovenia Boam Brinton. Emerson went to grade school in Coltman and high school in Ucon. He graduated from Brigham Young University in Accounting and Marketing. He served in the Navy during World War II. After an honorable discharge, he served from 1948 -1950 as an LDS Missionary in the Northern California Mission.

On August 24, 1950, he married Eve Bjorndal in the Salt Lake Temple.

He held many accounting positions with different companies and finally owned his own accounting firm. Although retired at the time of death, he still had a few clients. He also was a schoolteacher for School District 91, teaching elementary school and business classes and DECA at Idaho Falls High School.

He served in many positions in the LDS church and the calling he loved the most was teaching the Gospel Doctrine class.

He enjoyed woodworking, traveling and being with his grandchildren; Emerson especially enjoyed teaching them how to shoot, whittle and fish.

He is survived by his wife, Eve, his children, Victoria, Corrine, Mark (Nancy) and Michael (Barbara), and 10 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Max and Howard; and sisters, Ruth Hunter and Elaine Poole.

Funeral services will be at 1 p. m., Tuesday, June 30, 2009, at the Woodruff LDS 1st Ward Chapel, 1660 12th St in Idaho Fa lls with Jerry Painter officiating. The family will visit with friends from 11:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in the Grant Central Cemetery with military honors by the Bonneville County Veterans Team and the Idaho Honor Guard.
