Obituary

J.D. Woolf, 93, of Iona, ID passed away, Saturday, January 17th, 2015, at the home of his daughter in Iona, ID. J.D. was born January 27th, 1921, in Teton ID, to Marion Hurren Woolf and Lillian Gertrude Ashcraft. He was the youngest of 7 children and attended school in Osgood, ID. On May 13th, 1950, J.D. married the love of his life, Joan Rose Casper in Dillon, MT. Together they raised four children, Hank Woolf, Christene Bell, Teresa Smith, and Deborah Williams. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS temple. This May would have been their 65th wedding anniversary. J.D. started the original Woolf Tree Service in 1947 with only a cross cut saw and an axe. He climbed trees for 20 years before buying his first aerial tower and two man chainsaw. He went on to cut trees for another 50 years. J.D. not only cut trees, but was an avid wood worker as well and over the course of his life built 5 beautiful homes. J.D. is survived by the following: Daughter's: Teresa Smith of Logan UT, and Deborah Williams of Iona, Idaho; 6 Grandsons, 2 Granddaughters, and 17 Great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his 6 sisters, his 2 brothers, his wife, Joan Rose Casper, his son Hank Woolf, and his daughter Christene Bell. Graveside Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, January 24th, 2015 at the Ammon Cemetery, under the direction of Coltrin Mortuary.
