IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Jack Eugene
Dalton
May 13, 1947 – November 6, 2025
Jack Eugene Dalton, 78, of Idaho Falls, Idaho, passed away on November 6, 2025, at Idaho Falls Community Hospital under hospice care and surrounded by his loving family.
Jack was born on May 13, 1947, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Jack Booth Dalton and Elva Mae (Bowcutt) Dalton. A lifelong Idaho Falls resident, Jack grew up in the community he loved and remained rooted there his entire life. He graduated from Idaho Falls High School and later attended Ricks College.
Jack served a full-time mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the West Spanish American Mission, spending much of his time in California. His faith remained central throughout his life as he served in many callings, including bishoprics, quorum presidencies, and as a gospel doctrine and primary teacher. He also found great joy in serving in the temple, where he strengthened his faith and deepened his love for the gospel.
On June 5, 1970, Jack married Susan Joyce (Gerard) Dalton in the Idaho Falls Temple, where they began a life filled with faith, family, and service.
Jack worked diligently throughout his life in many roles, but his greatest joy came from spending time with his loved ones. He was a man with many jobs and many friends — always devoted to the Lord and to others.
He loved sports — especially cheering for BYU, the Atlanta Braves, and the Chicago Bears. In his youth, he enjoyed playing baseball, softball, and basketball; later, he coached his son and many others. In recent years, he loved watching his grandsons play sports. Jack also enjoyed reading, storytelling, and sharing his love of life through his quick wit and sense of humor.
With his compassion, humor, and amazing memory, Jack was a friend to all and lived his life in a way that showed people mattered.
Jack is survived by his beloved wife, Susan Dalton of Idaho Falls; his children: Zack (Jennifer) Dalton of Poulsbo, Washington, and Ashleigh (Todd) Altom of Layton, Utah; and four cherished grandsons: Hayden, Bode, Cole, and Finn Altom. He is also survived by his brother, Jim Dalton; and sisters: Barbara (Dalton) Johnson, Chris (Dalton) Seal, and Cathy (Dalton) Reyes.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Elva Dalton; his brother, Terry Dalton; and his mother-in-law, Joyce Gerard.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Thursday, November 13, 2025, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints chapel located at 3370 N 5th W, Idaho Falls. A commemoration will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m., on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, at Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First Street, Idaho Falls, and one hour prior to the funeral services at the church.
