Jack Egbert Hendricks, of Idaho Falls, passed away at his home Sunday, September 22, 2013, at the age of 91 of natural causes. He was born at home on November 29, 1921, on a snowy, winter day in Marysville, Idaho, to John Harlow Hendricks and Thelma Egbert Hendricks. He grew up in Marysville, Teton Valley and Ashton. He graduated from Sugar Salem High School in 1939. On February 16, 1944, he married Lola Maurine Reece in the Logan LDS Temple. Following their marriage, he served in the U.S. Navy as a Seabee doing ship repair at Port Hueneme in San Diego, California. He worked on the Michelson Family 7 Bar Ranch. After moving to Idaho Falls, Jack went to work for Farr Candy Company as an ice cream production manager for 42 years. He also did electronic repairs mainly televisions for about eleven years. He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served faithfully in many callings through the years. As a young man, he served a mission to the Western Canadian Mission. In 1987, Jack and Lola served a Family History mission in Salt Lake City. He enjoyed outdoor activities such as fishing, prospecting, gardening, ranching, and song writing and tinkering with electricity. Jack is survived by the following: Son, Sammie John (Jolene) Hendricks of Idaho Falls; Daughters: Suzanne (Jerry, deceased) Billman and Ceri (Bruce, deceased) Likes both of Idaho Falls; and Jeni (Tim) Paquette of Dallas, Texas; Brother, Robert Hendricks of Blackfoot; Sister-in-law, Betty Ann Hendricks of Blackfoot; Sisters: Zella Faye Weaver of Blackfoot; Norma Kirby of Mesa, Arizona, and Thelda Hendricks of Laramie, Wyoming; Brother-in-law, Ron Reed of Snowflake, Arizona; 25 grandchildren and 60 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lola; a son, James Reece Hendricks; a son-in-law, Kevin Smith; a brother, Don Hendricks; a sister, Betty Lou Reed; and sister-in-law, LaDean Hendricks. Funeral services will be at 12 Noon Friday, September 27, 2013, at the Idaho Falls LDS 4th Ward Chapel, 955 Memorial Drive, with Bishop Travis Walker officiating. The family will visit with friends Thursday evening September 26, 2013, from 6-8:00 p.m. at Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First St., Idaho Falls and Friday at the church one hour prior to the services. Burial will be in the Annis Little Butte Cemetery. Military rites will be under the direction of the Bonneville County Veterans Memorial Team and the Idaho Honor Guard.
