Obituary

Jack Howell Jensen, 87, of Idaho Falls, died October 3, 2009, at his home of natural causes. He was born September 5, 1922, in McCammon, Idaho, to Hans Jensen and Mattie Howell Jensen. He grew up in Dayton, Idaho, and attended high school in Weston, Idaho. On November 29, 1945, he married Melveen Shaw in Logan, Utah. Their marriage was solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple on Dec. 3, 1957. He farmed in Dayton until 1959. They moved to Idaho Falls where he owned and operated Roto-Rooter Service from 1959 until his retirement in 1992. He was a active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He and his wife served a Family History Mission in Salt Lake City from 1992-93. At the time of his death, he held the office of a high priest and was a devoted home teacher for many years. He enjoyed square dancing, hunting and fishing. Jack loved his family and was proud of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He loved visiting with anyone and everyone. He is survived by the following: wife, Melveen Jensen of Idaho Falls; sons: Kennie Jensen and Matthew (Debbie) Jensen both of Idaho Falls; daughters: Cathy (Brent) Preece of Idaho Falls; Susan Nuttall of Shelley; and Peggy Stockton of Centerville, Utah; sisters: Velma Rosa and Margie (Larry) Stewart both of Pocatello; brother, Jerry (Verla) Jensen of Dayton, ID; 25 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Michael Jensen; a brother, Vaughn "Bud" Jensen; and 3 sisters: Blanche Jensen, June Sant, and Martha White. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 8, 2009, at the Woodville LDS 1st Ward Chapel, 1555 N. 700 E. with Bishop Kris Kelley officiating. The family will visit with friends Wednesday, October, 7, 2009, from 7-9:00 p.m. at Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First St., Idaho Falls, and at the church on Thursday, one hour prior to the services.
