IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Jacob Lamar
Blair
September 29, 1999 – October 18, 2023
Jacob Lamar Blair was born September 29, 1999, in Idaho Falls, Idaho to Robert Blair and Marty Illum Blair. He attended Ethel Boyes Elementary, Eagle Rock Junior High, and Skyline High Schools. He later graduated from Emerson High School. Jacob worked as a server at McKenzie River and at the time of his passing, he was working at Snow Eagle Restaurant. He enjoyed working with the public and there were many regulars who loved him. His ready smile and sense of humor endeared him to many of his co-workers and customers as well as friends and family.
One of his many talents was making others smile, laugh, and see the humor in many situations in life. His big smile lit every room he entered. He often had interesting and entertaining stories to tell about his adventures. It was difficult to be sad or angry around him. He always found something positive in every situation. He was an amazing influence on everyone around him and it was a privilege to know him. Jacob always remembered people for the good things about them.
Jacob and his brother, Devan, enjoyed going to the climbing wall and going snowboarding with their cousins Jalen and Kaden. He loved the mountains and being outdoors. He started camping with his family when he was very young. He loved it when they got to camp and play with their cousins. One of their favorite games was their version of Hunger Games which got interesting when it got dark or when someone hid on top of one of the campers! They played another game called Hunter, Winter, Bear. The whole family enjoyed watching them play as they ran through the woods, leaping over bushes and dodging trees. Another favorite campsite was what the family called the "dam" campsite because the family would build a dam out of big rocks and logs to back the water up and form a nice pond to play in. Friends once told the family they had never seen anyone work so hard to have fun.
He learned early on in his life to enjoy fishing. Whenever he could get away, he would camp, hike, and ride motorcycles with family or friends or even by himself. He loved his motorcycle and his truck and took great pride in taking good care of them. It always made him laugh when he took his grandma somewhere in his truck because he had to get a stool so she could get in. He also loved his dog, Rex, and enjoyed taking him to the mountains when he could.
Jacob often went to see his grandparents and did many chores around the house and garden which they appreciated, except for the time when he dug all the carrots and put them in a tub of water where they spoiled. Or the time in the spring, when he used the rototiller and dug up a huge part of the raspberry patch! He didn't know they were raspberries! Later, they could laugh about it but not at the time!
Jacob passed away on October 18, 2023, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center, where his last gift was through organ donation.
Jacob is survived by his mother, Marty Blair; his father, Robert Blair; his brothers: Devan Blair, Shane Smith, and Philip Smith; his grandfather, Fred Blair; and his grandparents: Doug and Maureen Illum. He had several aunts and uncles and many cousins from the Blair and Illum family.
