James "Jim" F. Jenkins Jr. peacefully left his home on earth to join his Father in Heaven on April 14, 2012. Jim passed from this life on a beautiful Spring day doing what he loved best. He was born May 17, 1929, in Idaho Falls, to James F. Jenkins Sr. and Ilean Shield-Hansen Jenkins. He grew up and attended school in Idaho Falls. He married Dawna Lucille Clark in Elko, Nevada, on December 31, 1947. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls Temple on June 23, 1984. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served as an Elders Quorum President, High Priest Group Leader and a faithful home teacher. He loved to rodeo, and was a bare back and saddle bronc rider. He once won a relay race, changing horses every eight miles, from St. Anthony to Idaho Falls. As a young man, he earned his pilot's license and developed a love of flying which continued until his death. He is survived by the following: Spouse, Dawna Lucille Jenkins of Idaho Falls; Daughter, Dawna Suzann Betts of Salt Lake City; Daughter, Jacqulyn Ilean (Douglas) Naef of Alpine, Wyoming; Son, James Neal (Brenda) Jenkins of St. Anthony; Sister, Donna Garrett of Idaho Falls; 20 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, William Kit Jenkins, his parents: James F. Jenkins Sr. and Ilean Hansen Jenkins, and a great-grandchild, Riley Ball. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, April 19, 2012, at the Park Taylor LDS Ward, 1291 West 65th South (York Rd), with Bishop Gregory Meacham officiating. The family will visit with friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 18, 2012, at Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First Street, Idaho Falls, and one hour prior to the services at the church.
