Obituary

James Neal Palmer, 40, of Ashton passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on January 10, 2013, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center. He was born July 23, 1972, in Bountiful, Utah, to Wesley Neal Palmer and Hope Kay Palmer. James grew up in Pocatello and attended Highland High School. His family moved to Morgan, Utah, his junior year where he met some very special friends, Gail and Judee Woodward. James worked with Gail most of the time on concrete repair. When not helping Gail on some project, Jim worked installing fire sprinkler systems and other construction projects. He was instrumental in building his parents cabin. He always had a strong work ethic and would help anyone that needed it. James had a great sense of humor and loved to tell jokes especially to his family. He loved playing golf with anyone who would play. James was a avid Yankees fan and loved football. Yelling at the TV with his dad when things did not go their way was very important. He loved rock music, the History Channel and the biggest jar of kosher dill pickles he could find. The family always had cats and dogs growing up and they all loved James, it was like they gravitated to him. After a 4 year battle, he was finally diagnosed with Bipolar/Schizophrenia. The last 3 years of his life were spent living between his parent's home in Ashton and Lily and Syringa Assisted Living Center in Idaho Falls. James is survived by his parents, Wesley and Hope Palmer of Ashton; a sister, Jeri Lynn Swenson(Rendall); three nephews: Timothy of Salem, Oregon, Tristen and Evan, and one very special niece, Brittany, all of Willard, Utah. Memorial services for James will be held early this summer in Ashton. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a memorial fund in the names of James Palmer at any Westmark Credit Union. Arrangements are under the direction of Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First St., Idaho Falls, Idaho. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.coltrinmortuary.com
