James Alfred (Jimmy) Simpson, 87, of Idaho Falls, passed away Friday, June 10, 2022, at Idaho Falls Community Hospital.
James was born June 23, 1934, in Idaho Falls to Alfred Simpson and Katherine Elizabeth Colby Simpson. He grew up in the Idaho Falls area.
He served in the United States Army from 1956 to 1958.
On July 26, 1954, he married Mary Hokanson at their home in Iona, Idaho. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls Temple on July 29, 1959. Mary passed away on January 10, 2011. Jim worked for U & I Sugar as a crane operator and then for Idaho Supreme as a mechanic where he worked until he retired.
Jimmy's passion was service to others. Since he retired in 1999, he has traveled North in the summer and South in the winter. He loved visiting with friends and family. He enjoyed helping them with their home repairs. His greatest joy was service to his family and friends, he would often say "a stranger is just a friend I have not met yet." Jim loved to laugh and make others smile.
Jimmy is survived by his siblings: Noni Elder, Dona May (Jerry) Allen, Norann (Doug) Bracken; his children: Linda Diann Simpson (Mike) Workman, Steven James Simpson, Debbie Jo Simpson (Bob) Boulier, Tina Marie Cooper (Louis) Wilder, Tonia Cooper Klym, and Tim Allen Cooper.
Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 p.m., Saturday, June 18, 2022, at the Lincoln 1 st ward building 3700 E. Lincoln Road, Idaho Falls. Services will be streamed live at either Facebook.com/coltrinmortuary or https://youtu.be/sEUW-yc2AQs . A visitation will be held from 10:30-11:45 a.m., prior to the service.
