She was born December 20, 1920, in Leavitt, Alberta, Canada to Franklin D. Leavitt and Jane Glenn Leavitt. She grew up in Leavitt, Cardston, and attended schools in Glennwood, Canada.
On April 5, 1939, she married Douglas W. Hinman in the Cardston Alberta Canada temple. She lived in Leavitt, Cardston, Calgary, Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada; and Bell, Glendora, Azuza, Dana Point, San Clemente, and Downey, California. She was a homemaker and worked as a seamstress in her home.
She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she held the positions of Relief Society Counselor and President, and as a Gospel Doctrine teacher.
She belonged to a professional seamstresses' club, the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers, and a book club. She enjoyed sewing, upholstery, reading, and studying the scriptures.
She was very caring of others and had a great sense of humor.
She is survived by the following: daughter, Dauphne J. (Randy) Lords of Idaho Falls son, Douglas Thayne (Carol) Hinman of Roseville, California son, Marcus Burke (Beth) Hinman of Murrieta, California
She was preceded in death by her husband, a grandson, Tyson Lords; and all 17 of her siblings.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, November 16, 2006, at the Ammon 11th Ward Chapel, 1100 S. Tiebreaker Dr. with Bishop Paul Fairbourn officiating. The family will visit with friends one hour prior to the services at the church. Local arrangements are under the direction of Coltrin Mortuary in Idaho Falls. Interment will be in Mesa, Arizona.
