Janet Ellin Preator was born on September 13, 1939, in Chester, Idaho, to Arthur Channel and Della Channel. She grew up in the Challis area. She passed away peacefully, surrounded by her granddaughters, Sierra and Kayla, and her daughter-in-law and friend Lori, on Sunday, March 29, 2026, at the age of 86 in Idaho Falls, Idaho.
She was a loving and dedicated mother to her four children, a wonderful grandmother to her many grandchildren, a talented seamstress, a passionate gardener, an avid watcher of Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune, and a beautiful soul. She will be dearly missed by those whose lives she touched.
She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Lori Preator; her grandchildren, Kayla, Sierra, and Jaidon; her daughter, Tracy; her grandson, Ryan and his son, Cory; her sister, Connie; her brothers, Doug and Gene; her grandson Roy Brown and his daughters Emmalyne and Elizabeth; her granddaughter Jenny, and her children Jayne and Jillian; her grandson, Nathan, his wife, Jennifer, and their children, Izyck, Silas, Amron, and Shawn Poe; her granddaughter, Kayla, her husband, Terrance, and their children, Adalii, Evalyn, Dakota, and Greyson; her granddaughter, Ashley, her husband, Derick, and their children, Hudson, Maisie, Brantley, Kamber, and Deklan; her niece Robin and her wife Brenda; her brother-in-law, Jerry; her sister-in-law, Carol; her niece, Laura and her family; her niece, Debi and her family; and her stepson, Chad Parton and his family.
She is predeceased by her husband, Roy Owen Preator; her sons, Michael Ernest Mathews and Anthony Hathaway Preator; her grandson, Dakota Anthony Preator; her sister, Katherine Kinzy; her sister, Judith Cockerill; her brother, Dennis Hathaway; her father, Arthur Channel; her mother, Della Channel; her stepmother, Mildred Channel; and her sister, Pam Channel.
A celebration of life will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, April 10, 2026, at Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First Street, Idaho Falls. If you plan on attending the service, Janet requested that everyone wear black attire. Cremation is under the direction of Coltrin Mortuary.
