Jay Doyle Jenkins, 73, of Idaho Falls, Idaho, died October 2, 2005, at his home in Idaho Falls.
He was born July 7, 1932, in St. Anthony, Idaho, to Wilford W. Jenkins and Winnie D. Law Jenkins. He was raised and attended school in St. Anthony and Idaho Falls. He graduated from Bonneville High School in 1952 and attended the University of Utah where he studied accounting. During the Korean War, he served in the United States Air Force in Germany.
On August 31, 1956, he married Yvonne L. D'Emal in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple.
He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served faithfully in many callings including the Sunday School, Elders Quorum, Young Men, High Priest Group Leader, High Counselor, and as a Bishop in West Palm Beach, Florida.
He is survived by the following: wife, Yvonne L. D'Emal Jenkins of Idaho Falls son, Phillip D. (Annette) Jenkins of Austin, Texas daughter, Michelle L. (Ren) Waters of Mesa, Arizona daughter, Chantal N. (Bob) Dunkley of Idaho Falls son, Marc (Melissa) Jenkins of Layton, Utah son, Eric W. (Heidi) Jenkins of Salt Lake City, UT 15 grandchildren 4 great-grandchildren brother, Reed (Pat) Jenkins of Rigby, ID sister, Marie J. (Wayne) Richey of Rexburg, ID sister, Arla (Wayne) Butler of Shelley, ID sister, Lois (Lou) Falck of American Fork, UT brother, Grant (Georgie) Jenkins of Portland, OR aunt, Lavon (Bert) Guthry of Iona, ID
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 6, 2005, at the Idaho Falls LDS 19th Ward Chapel, 1200 Dunbar with Bishop Clint Tavenner officiating. The family will visit with friends Wednesday evening from 7-9:00 p.m. at Coltrin mortuary, 2100 First St. In Idaho Falls, and at the church on Thursday one hour prior to the services. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery where military rites will be performed by the Bonneville County Veterans Team.
