Obituary

Jenean Hill Rainsdon, 94, of Idaho Falls, passed peacefully from this life on Monday, September 9, 2024, at her home, under the loving care of her children.

Jenean was born February 25, 1930, in Malad, Idaho, to David N. Hill and Charity L. (Wolverton) Hill. She was the ninth of thirteen children born to David and Charity and the only one born in a hospital. In her early years, she lived on the family farm in St. John, Idaho. She had fond memories of growing up on this farm surrounded by extended family. In seventh grade, she moved with her family to Pocatello, Idaho where she graduated from high school.

She met her husband, Darwin Rainsdon, in 1949 at Lava Hot Springs during an outing with some of her friends. They were married in 1950 and were together until Darwin passed away in 2022. For much of their life together they farmed west of Moreland, Idaho where they raised livestock, hay, grain, potatoes, sugar beets, and children. They were blessed with eleven children.  After many years in the Moreland area, they moved to Firth, Idaho before finally moving to their current home in Idaho Falls.

Jenean was an accomplished seamstress and loved to cook for her family. When circumstances allowed, she always planted a large garden and would have her children help can large quantities of fruits and vegetables. She would join in family softball games and loved to play "Kitty Wants a Corner" and "Jolly, Jolly Butcher Boy" with her grandchildren. Summer fishing trips to the Lost River, Alder Creek, or Copper Basin are fond memories.

Jenean served faithfully in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints wherever called. She especially loved serving in the Primary where she served for many years. Together with Darwin, Jenean served five missions for the Church. Their faith and service are a priceless and lasting legacy for their posterity.

Jenean was preceded in death by her husband, Darwin Rainsdon; two daughters: Linda Marie and Cindy Lou [Douglas] Williams; and one granddaughter, Katara Rae Vail.

Left to cherish her memory are her children: Patricia King, Steven (Rea) Rainsdon, Michael (Theresa) Rainsdon, Marvin (Colleen) Rainsdon, Gary (Lori) Rainsdon, Sheri (Jeffrey) Vail, Jerry (Kerry) Rainsdon, Alan (Ginny) Rainsdon, and Cathy (Sean) Bennett; 50 grandchildren and 109 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 14, 2024, at the Idaho Falls North Stake Center, 955 Memorial Dr., Idaho Falls. The family will meet with family and friends from 6-8:00 p.m., Friday, September 13, 2024, at the Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First Street, Idaho Falls, and one hour prior to the services at the church on Saturday.
