IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Jerry Roger
Allen
April 30, 1938 – October 8, 2022
It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and brother, Jerry Roger Allen. Jerry was a larger-than-life, rough, tough, and charismatic legend among friends and family alike.
Jerry was born in Rigby, Idaho on April 30, 1938, to Bertha Marie Lewis (Wabby) and Charles William Allen. Grandma Wabby told the story about a single yellow rose blooming outside the bedroom window on the day he was born. He was the youngest of 11 children. He grew up in Rigby and moved to Idaho Falls around the age of 12, he later moved to Blackfoot and then to Battle Mountain, Nevada. Jerry enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, and flying.
Jerry met his wife, Donna May Simpson, on Christmas day of 1954. Three years later, he moved back to Idaho Falls where he became reacquainted with Donna and fell in love. They were married on June 21, 1958, they were sealed in the Idaho Falls Temple on May 24, 1977. They were married for 64 ½ years. To this union, five children were born: Jerry Roger Jr., Kathy Marie, Jody Lynn, Rolland Charles, and Eric Shawn.
Jerry and Donna loved to dance, play cards, visit family, and go on trips with their children. They lived in California for five years, in Battle Mountain, Nevada for seven years, then moved back to Idaho for seven years. In 1979, they moved back to Battle Mountain where they owned and operated Donna's Diner and Allen's Motel for many years. They have spent the most recent 22 years between Montana, Idaho, and Arizona. Jerry's health started declining a couple of years ago at which time they chose to stay in Twin Falls, Idaho near their sons and family.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Donna; daughter, Kathy Scovil; sons: Rolly (Tonia) Allen and Shawn (Kimberly) Allen; daughter-in-law, Sherry Wheeler; sister, Gail Herbst; as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Jerry was preceded in death by two sons: Jerry Jr. and Jody; three grandsons: Jody, Jerry, and Eric; his beloved mother, Wabby; three brothers: Charles, Jay, and Buddy Allen; and six sisters: Alene Jackson, Dorothy Hunziker, Leona McMurtrey, Wanda Caldwell, Carol Allen, and Ida Fern Yoes.
Jerry passed away on October 8, 2022, in Twin Falls, Idaho.
