Jerry Bernell Ferguson, 83, of Idaho Falls, passed away on Tuesday, May 3, 2016, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center.
Jerry was born on December 10, 1932, in Salt Lake City, Utah to Ernest Albert and Genevieve Pierson Ferguson. He grew up in Sandy and graduated from Jordan High School in 1951.
He served in the United States Navy from 1951-1955. At the time of his discharge he was a Store Keeper 1st class, serving on a mine sweeper on the USS Mockingbird. Upon his discharge from the Navy, he worked for Whitmore Oxygen in Salt Lake City and was then transferred to Idaho Falls.
On June 12, 1960, He married Eunice "Judy" Knorr in Salt Lake City.
In 1961 along with his partner, Mont Harris, he started Idaho Welding Supply. Upon his retirement in 1990, he created Acetylene Equipment Repair, where he operated until his death.
Jerry was a former member of Elks and was currently a member of the Eagles Club.
Until his health began to fail, Jerry was an avid fisherman, hunter and golfer.
Jerry had a great sense of humor, a generous heart and was an animal lover. He has gone to join his yellow lab, Ike.
He is survived by his wife, Judy Ferguson, of Idaho Falls, ID; his stepson, Chuck (Lora) Knorr, of Idaho Falls, ID; his sister, Dixie (Craig) Maddux, of Bountiful, UT, 1 grandchild and 1 great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and three sisters.
