Jeremiah "Jerry" Langford Jr., 76, of Idaho Falls, died July 13, 2010 at his home after battling cancer. He was born February 24, 1934 in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Jeremiah and Mildred Gatehouse Langford Sr. He grew up in Salt Lake and graduated from West High School in 1952. He went on to the University of Utah where he obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil & Design Engineering. He married Marilyn Young on September 11, 1958 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. After they got married they moved to Bartlesville, Oklahoma, where Jerry worked for Phillips Petroleum for 3 years. They moved to Idaho Falls in 1961 and he worked for Phillips at the site. He continued to work there under several different companies, retiring after 38 years at the Idaho National Laboratory (INL). Jerry was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and he served in nearly every ward position possible including Bishop of the Idaho Falls 7th Ward for 5 ½ years, and Stake Clerk for the Idaho Falls North Stake for 13 years. His greatest love was family history. He also loved visiting his sons and their families. Jerry enjoyed following the activities of his 7 grandsons. He also loved the outdoors, and enjoyed hiking, and camping with the youth. Some of his fondest memories include hiking Table Rock a total of 20 times with various Scout and young women groups. Jerry was kind and good to everybody; he loved his family and was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and friend. "We are gratefully blessed to be his family. We love you Dad." Jerry is survived by his wife Marilyn Y. Langford of Idaho Falls; sons: David R. Langford of Charlotte, North Carolina, Steven E. (Karen) Langford of Canby, Oregon, Michael A. (Dayna) Langford of Boise, Idaho, and Mark R. (Christine) Langford of Idaho Falls; a sister, Pat Brandt of Denver, Colorado; and 7 grandchildren: Jeremy and Bradley Saul Langford, Brandon, Justin and Bryon Langford, and Tyler and Zachary Langford. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 19, 2010, at the Idaho Falls LDS North Stake Center, 955 Memorial Dr. Idaho Falls, with Bishop Charles Johnson officiating. The family will receive friends from 6-7:30 p.m. Sunday, July 18, 2010 at Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First St. Idaho Falls, and one hour prior to the service at the church.
