Geraldine "Jerry" Larsen , 78, of Idaho Falls, Idaho, passed away Thursday, January 15, 2009, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center.
Jerry was born in Pocatello, Idaho on June 22, 1930 to Paul and Jewell Fisher. The family then moved to Mud Lake and later to Idaho Falls where Jerry graduated from Idaho Falls High School.
Jerry married Leo Larsen, they made their home in Idaho Falls where they owned and operated Tautphaus Park Funland. They had two sons and two daughters. They were later divorced. Along with managing the park, Jerry was the Women's Editor at the Post Register as well as owning and operating her own business, Larsen Catering. She managed the Orange Julius in Idaho Falls as well as in Hurst, Texas. She then moved to Salt Lake City, Utah to be closer to her family. There she managed Fernwood's ice cream and candy store. Jerry finally returned to Idaho Falls where she was the catering director at the Westbank Restaurant.
After her retirement Jerry spent much of her time taking care of her beautiful yard and garden. She was a member of the Idaho Falls Garden Club and served as secretary of the Southeast District of Idaho Garden Clubs, Inc. Jerry also was active in the Idaho Falls Jay-C-Ettes and the PTA, where she served in the presidencies. She volunteered in the local hospitals as a Pink Lady. Jerry was a talented seamstress creating clothing and dolls that are cherished by her family and friends. She also enjoyed reading, tole painting, doll collecting and knitting.
Survivors include her children; Paula (Bruce) Gamett of Las Vegas, Nevada, Randy (Peggy) Larsen of Pocatello, Idaho, Mickey Larsen of Pocatello, Idaho, and Laurie (Ken) Burr of Idaho Falls; nine grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; sister, Beverly Fisher of Kingsburg, California and brother, Bud (Anne) Fisher of Boise, Idaho. She was preceded in death by her parents and a granddaughter, Lisa Gamett.
Funeral services will be at 11a.m. Wednesday January 21, 2009 at Coltrin Mortuary. The family will receive friends from 7 p.m to 9 p.m Tuesday and for one hour Wednesday prior to services.
