Obituary

Joan (Jody) Jorgensen Anderson passed away on Saturday, June 24, 2023, at the Gables of Ammon Assisted Living Center. She was 96 years old.

Jody was born March 24, 1927, at their family home in Idaho Falls, Idaho to Hans and Carrie Nielsen Jorgensen. She had two brothers and four sisters. She attended schools in Idaho Falls and later in life received a GED from Idaho Falls High School. She chose to quit school to work at Roger Brothers, who were sending dehydrated potatoes to the troops during World War II. Her brothers were serving in the war.

Jody married Theodore Oscar Anderson on May 19, 1945, in Dillon, Montana when he was home on leave from the Navy. Together they had two daughters and three sons. They settled in Ammon, Idaho and raised their family farming and milking dairy cows.

She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She held various callings in the church. She was a Ward Librarian for 20 years and loved serving at the Idaho Falls Temple.

Jody enjoyed crocheting, ceramics, making blankets, and cooking delicious meals. She worked as a Hospice Volunteer for Good Samaritan and volunteered at the Family History Center. She received many blessings working on her genealogy. One of her greatest enjoyments was spending time in the mountains camping and fishing with extended family. She cherished memories of the yearly family reunions.

She loved people and cared about everyone she knew or met. She would search for the one in need and go out of her way to rescue friends or family at any moment. Anyone who knew Jody was impacted by her sense of humor and extraordinary ability to make you a best friend.

Jody cherished her grand and great-grandchildren and spent countless hours with each one of them. She was forever planning the next grandchild party or celebration. To her friends and family, she will always be known as 'Grandma Jody', to her grandchildren she was 'The Best Grandma Ever'.

Jody is survived by her daughter, Linda (Paul) Decker; sons: Kenny (Karen), Roger (Teresa), and Doug (Yvette) Anderson; 14 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren, and 8 great-great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Ted; her daughter, Joann Christine; her brothers: Marvin and Kenny; and her sisters: Margaret, Lucille, Juanita, and Dorothy.

The family would like to thank The Gables of Ammon and One Source Hospice for the care of our mother.
