Joel Ellis Bowman, 85, of Idaho Falls, passed away on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, at Idaho Falls Community Hospital. He was under the care of Solace Hospice.
Ellis was born on May 15, 1940, to William Taggart Bowman and Agness Humphreys Strawn Bowman in American Falls, Idaho. He grew up in American Falls. He attended Idaho Falls High School.
On November 14, 1958, he joined the United States Air Force and served for four years, being discharged on October 1, 1962. On November 2, 1963, he married Elsie Faye Baker in Elko, Nevada. Together, they raised five children. They were later divorced, and Elsie passed away in 2012.
Joel loved to play golf and go camping. He enjoyed spending time with family and watching his grandson play baseball.
Joel is survived by his daughters: Tonja (Gary) Snow of Idaho Falls, Idaho, and Lisa Taylor of Killeen, Texas; his stepdaughter, Lori (Rich) Johnson of Yuma, Arizona; his son, Mike (Lorna) Bowman of Idaho Falls, Idaho; his stepson, Ron Baker of Idaho Falls, Idaho; his brother, Bill (Cam) Bowman; 17 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his grandsons, Tyson and Robert; his sisters: Daryl King and Norma Hayward; his brother, Dennis Bowman; and his stepmother, Dorothy Shelton Bowman.
A visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 13, 2025, at Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First Street, Idaho Falls. Inurnment will be in May in Fielding Memorial Park Cemetery.
