John Dean Miller, 93, of Idaho Falls, died Wednesday, October 21, 2015, in Ammon, Idaho. Dean was born August 27, 1922, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to John Oley and Lula L. Horman Miller. He spent a lot of fun time playing near and on the Snake River as a child. He always loved cars and mechanical things. He spent his whole life in Idaho Falls except 5 years in the Air Force during World War II. He was a Master Sergeant, working as a mechanical crew chief on B 29s. He flew around the world during his service. He was honorably discharged in 1945. He married Beulah Quinton in 1949 in the Idaho Falls LDS temple. They met after he saw her walk past his house every day on her way to work. He took very good care of her through their life together, especially in her last years of illness. Dean built their home East of Idaho Falls with the help of his wife and two oldest sons. It was a labor of love that lasted many years. His sons always met him at the door when he came home from work, ready to go out to work on the new house. He worked as an automobile mechanic for 6 years, 4 1/2 years as a mail carrier for the post office, and worked at INL as a maintenance mechanic until he retired. He was a dedicated father and provided many fun times for his family. He taught his children to work hard and be responsible for their actions. His retirement years were spent remodeling his home and working with Beulah in their yard. He and Beulah served an LDS mission to England and served many years in the LDS temple. He has served diligently in church callings all his life. He especially loved being a home teacher, even to the end. Dean was preceded in death by his dear wife, Beulah, of 64 years; two brothers, Wendell Miller and Wayne Miller, one grandson and three granddaughters. He is survived by his seven children; Carla Miller Judy (Dan) of Ammon, Idaho; Reed Miller (Rebecca) serving in the Rochester, New York Mission; Linden Miller of Ogden, Utah; Gayla Miller Dahl (David) of Wylie, Texas; Kent Miller (Donna) of South Jordan, Utah; Calvin Miller (Delain) of Liberty Lake, Washington; Shirlene Miller Tonks (Dennis) of Kearney, Missouri; one sister, Marjorie Miller Davis and one brother, Glenn Miller; 26 grandchildren and 74 great-grandchildren.
