John Richard Rhoades, 70, was called home by his Father in Heaven on November 20, 2017, in Yuma, AZ.
John was born in Idaho Falls, Idaho on February 28, 1947, to John and Edna Rhoades. He graduated from Idaho Falls High school. He was married to the love of his life Nancy Lee Wilson on May 27, 1966 (51 ½ years). They were Sealed for time and all eternity in 1974 at the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. They lived in and around the Idaho Falls area. They started their family with a daughter Sindy Lee Rhoades and a son John Matthew Rhoades. John had many successful careers and was a jack of all trades. John and Nancy moved to Yuma Arizona in 2007 for his health and they were enjoying their retirement in the warm sunny weather. John was a member of the church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. His callings were Temple and Family History Consultant and Emergency Preparedness Coordinator for the Foothills Ward. He was an active member of the Yuma Amateur Radio Club, and the Old Fortuna Amateur Radio Troop.
John enjoyed spending time with his family, camping, fishing, playing cards, and building/making anything you could imagine. He enjoyed reading and communicating with people all around the world with his HAM Radio.
John is survived by his wife Nancy; his daughter and son-in-law Sindy and Allen Martinson, his son John "Matt" Rhoades; his grandchildren AJ Martinson, Keshia Martinson, and Abbey Rhoades; his great-grandchildren Tyson, Andrew, and Lilah Martinson; his pets Jet and Pepe'. He is also survived by his sisters Ruby "Boots" Vineyard and Bettyann Kerr, and numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins.
He is preceded in death by his parents John Ames and Sarah Edna Rhoades. His sisters Jody Winder and Deloris Jensen, brothers Jay Rhoades and Dennis Rhoades.
Services will be held on December 1, 2017, at the L.D.S Church, 2051 S Emerson Ave, Idaho Falls, ID 83404 at 3:00 pm. John will be buried at Taylor Cemetery immediately following the services. The family will meet with friends during the viewing at 2:00 p.m. at the church.
A memorial will be held on December 4, 2017, at the L.D.S. Church, 8451 E 36th St, Yuma, AZ 85367 at 11:00 o'clock.
