IN LOVING MEMORY OF
John E.
Stringer
December 1, 1921 – January 1, 2007
After the war was over, he was released from active duty and then went to work for Sears and Roebuck. While working for Sears, John married Helen Smith on January 20, 1951 in Seattle, Washington. In 1960, they moved from Caldwell, Idaho to Idaho Falls, Idaho. John worked for Sears until his retirement in 1975. He went to work for the Idaho Department Store and worked for 12 more years until the store closed.
John is survived by his three children: Gay (Bruce) Snyder, Kirk (Katie) Stringer, Jim Stringer, 7 grandchildren; sisters; Ruth, Frances, Nellie, Mary, and numerous nieces and nephews.
John was preceded in death by his wife, Helen, who passed away in 1996.
John had many friends from all walks of life. He was a loyal friend to all and was in constant contact with those people he knew that lived far away. His loves were his immediate family and having coffee with his friends in town. His other interests were reading history books, genealogy, gardening, cooking and doing things for other people. John will be missed by all people who knew him. Family and friends will miss his entertaining stories, infectious laugh, and the twinkle in his eye. Memorial services will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 5, 2007, at Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First St., Idaho Falls. The family will visit with friends one hour prior to the services.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions may be made to the Bonneville County Humane Society, P.O. Box 2763, Idaho Falls, ID 83403-2763.
