Joshua James
Frew
July 6, 1978 – April 18, 2026
With profound sadness, we announce that Joshua James Frew, affectionately known as Josh, 47 years old, from Roberts, Idaho, passed away on April 18, 2026, after a long illness.
Josh was born on July 6, 1978, in Rexburg, Idaho, to James (Jim) Ellis Frew and Sharon K. Frew. He grew up in Roberts on his family farm. Josh helped with the family cattle from a young age. Feeding them and helping with the annual branding party every Mother’s Day weekend. He graduated from Rigby High School in 1996 with honors. After high school, he continued his education at Idaho State University for two years. He excelled in all academics. Josh had a soft spot in his heart for all stray farm cats. Over all the years, only one cat joined the family inside…Charlie.
Josh was a movie fanatic and a gamer enthusiast. He was an avid food critic, and French toast, blueberry pancakes, and sushi were tried at every establishment that offered them. Josh followed his hopes and dreams to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, driving truck for many years and making many friends along the way.
In 2009, he returned to Roberts, to his family, including his favorite Aunt Jodi, and many cousins. Once back in Idaho, he worked for Simplot Soil Builders. He followed in his dad’s footsteps, driving a computerized spreader truck. He enjoyed the company of his co-workers.
In his free time, Josh’s hobbies included collecting items of his interests, gardening, fireworks, target practicing, and spending time with his younger brother.
Josh is survived by his mother, Sharon Frew of Roberts, Idaho; his brother, Jared J. Frew of Roberts, Idaho; his aunts and uncles: Jodi Wenzel-Parker of Idaho Falls, Idaho, Lori Doucette of Boise, Idaho, Ervin and Jerry Crowley of Salt Lake City, Utah, and Brent and Kathy Gruvman of Idaho Falls, Idaho; and many cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father, James (Jim) Ellis Frew; his grandparents, James (Bud) and Dora Frew, and Clarence Wenzel and Barbara Wenzel Hudman.
Our heartfelt thanks to every member of the medical community who cared for Joshua. We will never forget your kindness.
There will be no services at this time. Cremation is under the care of Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First Street, Idaho Falls. Online condolences may be sent to www.coltrinmortuary.com.
