IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Joyce Lapriel
Burke Read
July 2, 1929 – June 26, 2016
As newlyweds Bill worked to support their young family. Joyce stayed home to nurture their children. Joyce held responsible positions in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. As a counselor in Relief Society, her presidency was responsible for the welfare program in their ward. To fulfill Bishop's Storehouse orders Joyce's presidency did all of the shopping, sorted and packed the food then carried it to the members' homes. She enjoyed teaching and serving in other callings as well.
In the brief time they lived in California, during Strawberry Festival. Joyce learned how to make the biggest, freshest, bestest strawberry pie known to mankind! She adapted the recipe to peach pies. They were beautiful orange and red. AND she made the best World-Renowned Brownies. Considering that her family was her whole world, they were World-Renowned.
Joyce was frugal with their resources. She raised a large garden and canned its produce to provide not only for her children at home, but to help sustain their grown newlywed children. She enjoyed making beautiful dresses for her granddaughters and boy's pajamas were always on her Christmas sewing list.
For the Reads, Yellowstone is a way of life. Bill and Joyce often went there for special occasions. This is where they honeymooned, camped with family and friends, and welcomed children's' "special someone" into their family. It's fitting that their 60th wedding anniversary was held in Yellowstone. Their children are continuing the tradition.
Joyce is preceded in death by her beloved sweetheart William "Bill" Read, with whom she is now joyfully reunited; two great-grandsons: Travis and Tate Read; five sisters; her parents and many of her relatives. We're sure they all can't talk fast enough to catch up on things. She's so friendly that by now she probably knows everyone in Heaven.
Joyce is survived by her six children, Ken (Candee), Rob (Jan), Jim (Rachel), Bruce, Carole (Russell), and Doug. Bill and Joyce have posterity of 63, including one great-great grandchild. We love and miss you, sweet Momma and Daddy!
