Obituary

Judith Broadfoot, beloved mother, passed away on April 29, 2025, surrounded by her children. Judith was an extremely brave and tenacious woman. She was an extraordinary mother, a faithful friend, and a good Samaritan who will be remembered by all for her selfless love, her kindness to strangers, and her feisty personality.  Although she was 4'6" tall, her diminutive body held an enormous heart.

Judith loved the majesty of buffalo, admired native American art, and appreciated antiques of all kinds. She loved road trips and had many solo adventures driving all over the West. Judith was adept at many crafts, including cross-stitching, macrame, and crochet. She had a green thumb and loved houseplants and tending her flower beds. Judith was also a skilled cook and baker who created many delicious dishes, including a particularly memorable strawberry rhubarb pie.

She was an ingenious mother, always finding canny ways to teach her children compassion and how to be people of character. She encouraged them to follow their hearts and actively nurtured their interests and talents. She was always available to listen to their troubles and worries and offer her support and wisdom and always stepped in to support her children in times of crisis. She believed love is love and treated all people with respect and dignity.

Judith worked very hard all of her life, mostly in retail and service jobs, and her family was very proud when she went to college at age 50 and earned an associate's degree in marketing from College of Eastern Idaho. She was a model of resilience and overcame life's setbacks and painful losses with grit and dignity.

Judith's family is grateful to the local community for the many acts of kindness they extended to her as she struggled in her declining years. We appreciate the devoted healers at Community Hospital for their heroic end-of-life efforts and compassionate care. Her family would like to add a special thanks to Ernestina Medina, the exceptional woman who was her devoted caretaker and friend, and who Judith considered a sister.

She is survived by her children: Yolanda Broadfoot (Doug Plummer), Rick (Glenda) Broadfoot, and Robert Broadfoot (Jerel Ondoy); her grandchildren: Daniel (Kim) Broadfoot, Michael (Alexis) Broadfoot, Edith (Braden) Watson, Kara (Tyler) Kennedy, and Tyler (Aarin) Bankenstein; her great-grandchildren: Jayden, Xander, Fynn, Jaxon, Kayson, Lydi, Nash, Sam, and Olive; and her great-great-grandchild, Willow.

She was preceded in death by her eldest daughter, Edith Thomas, and longtime companion, Mike Cole.

At Judith's request, there will be no funeral service. An informal gathering of remembrance is planned for a later date. Please contact Judith's family if you are interested in attending.
